The story
The museum is dedicated to the Egyptian poet and dramatist Ahmed Shawqi (1869-1932), known as the Prince of Poets. After returning to Egypt from exile he built a new house in Giza, which he named Karmat Ibn Hani and which later became the museum. The building takes the form of a white palace surrounded by a green garden, and it was officially opened on 17 June 1977.
