The story
Situated southeast of Siwa town, Gebel Al-Dakrour boasts clean quartz sand with natural thermal and trace mineral qualities. Every summer (July-August), traditional Siwan healers conduct supervised sand baths where patients are buried up to the neck for 15-20 minutes, followed by herbal teas in insulated tents to induce detoxifying perspiration and relieve chronic joint inflammation.
Visiting tips
Sand therapy season runs from mid-June to late August. A standard 3 to 5-day cycle requires resting and avoiding cold showers or air conditioning to maximize therapeutic impact.
