The story
The Precinct of Mut is an ancient Egyptian temple compound on the east bank of the Nile in South Karnak, Luxor, and one of the main precincts that make up the Karnak Temple Complex. It lies about 325 m south of the precinct of Amun and covers roughly 9 hectares. It holds several temples, centred on the Mut Temple, which is wrapped on three sides by a horseshoe-shaped sacred lake called the Isheru. Sources mention a mud-brick enclosure wall of the 30th Dynasty around the temples, and most of the compound is still ruined while restoration and excavation continue.
