The story
Shallalat Gardens is an old garden in Alexandria, occupying a large part of the Shatby district near Bab Sharq and the start of Fouad Street. The garden keeps remains of towers and sections of Alexandria's old city wall, including a tower preserved from the medieval wall, along with underground cisterns. It is known for terraces at different levels and for artificial lakes and waterfalls, spread over roughly eight feddans. A plan was announced to turn it into a cultural centre divided into five zones named after figures of the city's arts and culture.
